Design Bureau Nynker was set up in 1990 by Nynke van Vliet (1967). Nynke studied 3D-Design at the High School for the Arts in Utrecht (Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht – HKU) and to the present day she remains inspired by a statement from one of her former tutors: “A chair is merely a piece of ground, raised aloft”. A purer way of thinking about, looking at and freeing existing shapes is scarcely imaginable.
